Os projetos florestais no mecanismo de desenvolvimento limpo

RESUMO
O aquecimento global é um dos maiores problemas ambientais que a humanidade enfrenta. Para tratar desse desafio foi criado o Mecanismo de Desenvolvimento Limpo (MDL). Por meio do MDL, projetos de reflorestamento e florestamento poderão remover CO 2 da atmofesra, um dos gases de efeito estufa, e com isso gerar reduções certificadas de emissões (RCE) ou “créditos de carbono”. As definições e modalidades para a inclusão das atividades de reflorestamento e florestamento no MDL foram estabelecidas na 9 a Conferência das Partes, realizada de 1 o a 12 de dezembro de 2003, em Kyoto, no Japão.

ABSTRACT
Global warming is one of the biggest environmental problems facing humanity. To help overcome this challenge, the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) was created. Through the CDM, reforestation and afforestation project activities can remove CO 2 (one of the greenhouse gases) from the atmosphere and create Certified Emissions Reductions (CERs), or “carbon credits”. The 9th Conference of the Parties, that took place between 1 and 12 of December 2003, established the definition and modalities for the inclusion of reforestation and afforestation project activities in the CDM.
